Karen Thebeau, 79, died Wednesday, December 19 at her home in Clayton after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Her daughter, granddaughter, and two of her closest friends held her as she passed.
Karen was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on December 10, 1939. She loved horses, fishing, beer, Chinese food, Mexico, Louise Penny novels, British television series, but, most of all, her family, her large network of friends, her sister, Dorothy, and her beloved Maine coon cat, Ike. Karen earned her undergraduate degree from St. Louis University and a masters from Washington University. She joined the Realtor ranks midcareer and made boatloads of friends whom she cherished.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gerald; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Timothy Landon of Evanston, IL; son and daughter-in-law, John and Bridget Thebeau, of Marblehead, MA; and sister, Dorothy Haig. Her five grandchildren, Olivia, Charles, Madeleine, Emma, and Sam will miss her.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
At Karen’s request, a party celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
